Long Night of Research

Experience Science firsthand!Experience Science firsthand!

On May 24th 2024, the "Long Night of Research" offered exciting, surprising and astonishing insights into the world of biomedical discoveries.

The event itself took place at 270 different locations across Austria, with the individual exhibition sites open between 5pm and 11pm. With no entry fees, countless attractions, workshops, lectures and live-experiments to participate in, about 170.000 curious visitors satisfied their hunger for science, adult experts and young explorers alike.

The Bergthaler Lab was eager to participate in two locations at the Medical University of Vienna. As part of our mission to make science and scientific methods and knowledge a natural part of our society's conciousness, our team offered insights into immunology, viral diseases and advanced pathogen surveillance. Lay people could pipette and act as crime scene investigators, as well as were invited to perform a PCR puzzle game with wastewater. You find impressions of this night of science enthusiasm in our gallery. We look forward to the next Long Night of Research!
